Hello Matthew Weinberg,
Your questions are very important and we hope to answer them all clearly as possible. Please feel free to ask any additional concerns that arise.

Question 1- Starting with what power is used to treat?
Answer to Question 1- The power source used to operate the microwave generator is 120 volt ac electricity, common U.S. public grid electrical power source. As listed in operator manual, Made In USA: Power Rating = Vac / Hz: 120 / 60 @ 7amps: EPA Establishment no. 68965-AZ-001 - EPA Product Registration no. 068965.”

Question 2- What effects does it have on wood?
Answer to Question 2- The heating thermal effects that microwave treatment has on wood is very similar to a microwave oven’s heating effects on items placed within it. In microwave wood pest treatment, the wood infested areas are bombarded with radio frequency microwaves emitted from a magnetron engineered to evenly launch and distribute the waves which are slowed down when they mainly encounter starches, sugars, proteins and moisture. The waves slowed down are then hit by the waves behind them causing heat at the areas of bombardment. Microwave treatment of termites is the combination of heating the termites directly while also heating the wood that they live within. Wood can catch fire at temperatures as low as 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Termite application lethal temperatures are rated from 20 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit below woods possible 200 degree Fahrenheit flash point.
Microwave treat is a precise scientific applied structural treatment procedure based on controlled and maintained lethal target pest temperatures.

Question 3- How long does it have to be active to kill termites?
Answer to Question 3- Obtain A Effective Treat Time, The following web address will take you to the Treatment Time Reference Chart  page of the products operator manual. https://www.wavelengthemts.com/docs/TimeRefChart2013CW.pdf
The temperatures needed to kill termites as listed on product label are: “Lethal Dosage Temperatures to be applied for Drywood Termites, Dampwood Termites, Subterranean Termites and Formosan Termites. Obtain temperatures between 130 and 180 Degrees Fahrenheit at treatment target site to achieve constant minimum temperature of 124 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minute minimum duration time.“

Question 4- What are outcomes of human exposure or being near device while active?
Answer to Question 4- As listed in product operator manual,
Precaution to applicator industrial standard microwave exposure limits.
“This unit operates at 2450 mega hertz and generates up to 700 Watts of radio frequency electromagnetic radiation referred to as (RF)(EMR). Industrial standards for safe levels of human exposure are 5 milliwatts per square centimeter of surface area per six-minute duration.”
Health Hazard Information
“Direct over exposure to the radio frequency microwave energy emitted by this device can damage living tissue at the body site or extremity exposed to a depth of approximately 1.18”, (30mm).”
First Aid Measures
“If overexposure occurs; move afflicted to a cool environment and seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms are Hypothermia  (medical term for abnormally high body temperature), moderate to severe burning or tingling sensation and /or red itchy irritation at area exposed.”
